GaveKal [see profile], which is preparing to launch its debut mutual fund in the US, recently hired Shawn Paulk as head of distribution.

Paulk started at GaveKal in June and reports to Steven Vannelli, portfolio manager and head of US research.

Paulk was a former head of financial advisor distribution at TIAA-CREF, where he spent seven years. He left the firm in the summer of 2008 and started his own company.
