A French newspaper has the latest buzz on UniCredit's Pioneer Investments. Natixis SA is reportedly among the firms that have their eye on Pioneer, French daily Los Echos reported. Both Reuters and Bloomberg have picked up on the report.

Others interested parties named in the Los Echos article are BNP Paribas and Amundi Asset Management, a joint venture between Credit Agricole and Societe Generale.

Meanwhile, UniCredit CEO Alessandro Profumo was quoted by Dow Jones as saying in an earnings call on Tuesday that UniCredit has gotten "several expression of interest" for Pioneer.

UniCredit honchos have said that they could arrive at a decision on Pioneer's fate at the end of the year.
