After a two-and-a-half month search,
Baron Capital Group has found a new chief distribution officer. New York City-based
Baron hired
David Feldman, who used to run intermediary
distribution at
Columbia Management, sources told
The MFWire.
Feldman fills the shoes vacated by
Brian Jacobs, who left Baron last October after eight months on the job.
Prince Houston Group, the same search firm that helped Janus with its recent CEO hunt,
assisted Baron with its search, according to one source.
Feldman could not be contacted for comment. Baron CEO Ron Baron could not immediately be reached for comment, as was Prince Houston's Marylin Prince.
Most recently, Feldman led intermediary distribution at Columbia, which he left last March. He left the firm months before Bank of America inked a deal to sell Columbia's long-term asset management business
to Ameriprise.

Mr. Feldman comes to Baron Capital Group with 23 years of experience in mutual fund and financial product distribution at Columbia Management Distributors and predecessor firms. Most recently, he was managing director, head of intermediary sales. He also served as channel manager of the financial institutions division and the financial advisor division.
Mr. Feldman earned a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1986. He holds NASD Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses.
