IndexIQ just hired Julie Abbett as senior vice president and portfolio manager, the Rye Brook, New York-based company revealed Monday.

Abbett previously worked for Deutsche Asset Management, where she managed funds with AUM totaling $10 billion. Abbett's Deutsche experience with fund strategies based on quantitative models went a long way toward the decision to hire her, according to an IndexIQ company statement.

“Julie brings tremendous experience in alternative investment strategies and rules-based investment products to the firm,” stated Adam Patti, chief executive officer at IndexIQ. “We look forward to her contributions as we continue to expand our family of products.”
