If the situation is right, Franklin Resources might consider charging up the old credit card. "In the right situation we would consider making a large purchase," an unidentified Franklin executive said Thursday in the company's earnings call Thursday. Reuters reports that executives said that they are always looking for potential targets that sport the right price tag.

So what companies might Franklin have the opportunity to add to its collection? Recent reports say that National City is looking for a buyer for its Allegiant Funds. Others that are rumored to be on the block are Matthews Funds and Fifth Third Funds.
