Investors looking for a way into the hot commodities sector may soon see an opportunity from
Barclays Global Investors. The index giant has filed for a fund that would be based on the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index, reports
Marketwatch.
The fund would be invested in futures listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange that have terms of approximately five years, reports Marketwatch. The ETF's expense ratio would be 75 basis points.
Other existing commodity funds include the Pimco Real Return Strategy fund, Oppenheimer Real Asset and iShares Goldman Sachs Natural Resources.
Earlier this year,
Rydex Investments launched Rydex Commodities Fund and
Scudder opened a fund that invests in companies related to commodities, the Commodity Securities Fund.
