Franklin Resources has named a new general counsel and senior vice president. Craig Tyle will join the company in September, replacing Murray Simpson. Simpson will become a senior advisor to Franklin, according to a news release.

Tyle was previously a partner at the Washington, D.C.-office of Shearman & Sterling. Prior to private practice, Tyle was general counsel of the Investment Company Institute.
