Thomas F. Eggers will reassume leadership of Dreyfus Corporation on April 1, according to a news release.

Eggers will leave Scudder Investments, where he was president and chief executive officer. He replaces Michael G. Milliard, who will work with Eggers through a transition period. The length of that period is "to be determined" and he will work on "projects to be determined," said Patrice Kozlowski, Dreyfus spokeswoman.

Kozlowski did not comment on whether Milliard resigned or was fired.

The move likely comes as a result of the shakeup continuing at the top ranks of Deutsche Asset Management. Kevin Parker, head of DeAM, recently named Axel Schwarzer as head of Scudder Investments. Schwarzer formerly headed DeAM's European fund business.

Eggers was president and chief executive officer of Dreyfus from October 2001 to May 2002. He originally joined the firm in April of 1996.

Dreyfus is a subsidiary of Mellon Financial.
