Two senior executives who have been out of the mutual fund back-office world for a few years are back, helping out a one-time competitor.

MFWire has learned that
Andrew Rogers and
Jace Schuppan, previously CEO and national sales manager (respectively) at Gemini Fund Services, are now working, in different capacities, with the folks at
Nottingham, a Rocky Mount, North Carolina-based mutual fund back-office provider. At Nottingham, Rogers will serve as a part-time strategic advisor, and Schuppan serves as executive vice president of business development.
Schuppan did not immediately return calls for comment.
Kip Meadows, CEO of Nottingham, tells
MFWire, "We were really happy to bring them aboard, especially as I've known both for a long time. A lot of people in the industry also already know and like them."
Rogers tells
MFWire, "Nottingham has a lot of solutions I'm looking forward to delivering to investment advisors. I'm working with them on strategy and helping them grow their business."
Although Rogers has been
out of the mutual fund business since 2017, he says he is eager to get back into the game.
Meadows adds, "I think Andrew is a lot like me, and one of my favorite things to do is business development. He's very creative and bright, and understands the nuances in a mutual fund administration firm. From what I've seen so far, Jace is the exact same way."
Regarding the hiring process, Meadows says, "[Rogers and Schuppan] approached us initially about joining the firm. Being
senior management [at Gemini], they had to sit on the sidelines after that firm was
acquired, so I think that had a lot to do with wanting to get back into the executive side of things."
On the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Meadows continues, "I'm very proud of our team. It's lonely and quiet in the office building, but everybody is still working hard. Our COO says his group, which mostly does front-facing work with clients, hasn't missed a beat. In some ways they've actually gotten more efficient."
Prior to assisting Nottingham, Rogers was working in fintech as CEO of FusionIQ. Before that, he was with Gemini
for sixteen years. From 1998 to 2001, he was a vice president with JPMorgan Chase.
As for Schuppan, he recently served as associate vice president and business development director for Ultimus Fund Solutions, which acquired Gemini in 2017, from then to 2019. He was also regional sales manager at Valmont Industries from 2019 to 2020. Schuppan is an alumnus of Doane University.
