The team at $25.6-billion-AUM West Coast mutual fund firm is welcoming a new hire in a key, newly created role.

Yesterday,
Bill Hackett, CEO of Matthews International Capital Management (dba

confirmed that
Yu-Ming Wang has
joined the San Francisco-based asset manager as president and global chief investment officer. Yet
Robert Horrocks will continue to serve as CIO and PM at the firm.

Wang previously served as deputy president and global CIO for Nikko Asset Management, which he
joined in 2013. Prior to that he worked with Manulife Asset Management and Wachovia. He is an alumnus of NYU's Stern School of Business and of MIT.
Hackett lauds Wang as "an accomplished, senior executive" and puts the hiring in the context of the firm's "thoughtful and disciplined approach to long-term strategic planning."
"I look forward to partnering with Yu-Ming on developing the long-term strategic plan for the investment team so that we remain positioned for future growth," Horrocks states.
