Yesterday,
Eric Bergeson, president of
Wasatch Advisors [
profile], and
J.B. Taylor, Wasatch's CEO,
confirmed that the Salt Lake City-based, employee-owned firm has changed names, to
Wasatch Global Investors. The 44-year-old firm specializes in micro-, small-, and mid-cap equity investing, both U.S. and international, and the team now offers 16 strategies.
"The name Wasatch Global Investors better reflects our global business and clearly expresses our 100% focus on investment management," Bergeson states. "Our roots are in U.S. small-cap investing, but our process has proven successful in identifying high-quality businesses of all sizes around the world. Today, almost half of our $18.5 billion in assets under management [as of June 30] is invested in dedicated ex-U.S. and global strategies."
"Our new name highlights our heritage as long-term investors," Taylor states.
Sam Stewart founded Wasatch in 1975, naming it after the Wasatch Mountain range. (Stewart
left the firm last year.) The firm launched its first mutual funds in 1986.
