Kim joins the IDC from Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), where he served as a senior vice president of commercial real estate for eight years. A spokesman from MBA was not immediately able to comment.

Kim will succeed Amy Lancellotta, who has led the IDC for 13 years. Lancellotta is retiring after spending 30 years with the ICI.

"We are delighted that Tom will be returning to ICI in this critically important role," stated Paul Schott Stevens, president and CEO of ICI. "For 15 years, the Independent Directors Council has provided invaluable services to the fund director community, and Tom's proven leadership skills will help us build on that success."

Dawn Vroegop, chair of the IDC governing council, stated, "With his extensive experience as a trade association leader, Tom possesses abundant talent and skills to steer IDC to its next chapter."

A graduate of the University of California, Irvine, Kim received his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and holds an L.L.M. from Georgetown University.
