Company: Whole Foods Market

Appointments: Joe Mansueto, Scott Powers

Two industry vets were added to Whole Foods's Board of Directors. Joe Mansueto, founder and executive chairman of Morningstar, and Scott Powers, retired president and CEO of SSgA, were appointed as independent directors. Ken Hicks, Sharon McCollam, and Ron Shaich, Garbielle Sulzberger, and Mary Ellen Coe were also assigned positions on the Board. Additional information can be found in the release.

Company: Federated Investors

Deceased: John (Jack) F. Donahue

Donahue passed away on May 11 at the age of 92. Donahue co-founded Federated in 1955 and served as chairman emeritus.

Company: The Securities and Exchange Commission

Appointment: Lucas Moskowitz

Moskowitz was appointed chief of staff at the SEC. Previously, Moskowitz served as chief investigative counsel of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.

Company: UBS Asset Management

Appointment: Suni P. Harford

Harford was appointed as head of investments at UBS, effective in July. In her role, she will be responsible for hundreds of investment employees, and oversee around $600 billion in AUM in traditional and alternative asset classes. Previously, Harford was employed at Citigroup as regional head of markets for North America.

Event: The William F. Sharpe Indexing Achievement Awards presented by IMN and The Journal of Index Investing

Award Recipient: Jim Ross

Ross was named the William F. Sharpe Lifetime Achievement Award Winner for 2017 on May 10. Ross will officially be given his award on June 26 at the ceremony, during the networking luncheon of Global Indexing & ETFs. Ross is currently the executive vice president, global head of SPDR ETFs at SSgA.

Appointment: Kimberly Tambascia

Tambascia joined Voya as client advisor in its insurance solutions group. In her new role, she will be responsible for marketing and advising of Voya's capabilities to to U.S. insurance companies, and more. Previously, Tambascia was employed at BlackRock, where she was a member of their financial institutions group.

Appointments: Steve Bodurtha, Steve Houston, Dan Yang

These executives were appointed as members of Alaia's management team, following the launch of their first-to-market platform, which offers registered funds with defined payouts. Prior to this, Bodurtha led Citi Private Bank's investment business in North America. Houston led the Americas Wealth Management division at Barclays, and Yang was employed at Goldman Sachs.

Appointment: Phil Waldeck

Waldeck was named president and CEO of Prudential Retirement, a branch of Prudential, effective June 5. He succeeds Christine Marcks, who filled the position for 10 years, after deciding to retire. Waldeck has been employed at Prudential since 2004, and currently leads Prudential retirement’s investment & pension solutions business.

Appointment: Paula Kelley

Kelley was appointed as chief marketing officer at Dreyfus, BNY Mellon Investment Management's U.S. investment management company, effective immediately. Kelley will lead marketing for Dreyfus' North American channels. Previously, she was employed at Citi.

Appointments: Noel Archard, Seth Morrison

Archard was appointed as head of global SPDR product at SSgA, and Morrison was appointed as head of global SPDR marketing. Both appointees will be based in Boston. Previously, Archard was county head at BlackRock in Canada, and Morrison was previously employed at Vanguard, where he served as the head of flagship business development group.

Appointments: Peter Alberding, Warren Wright

Alberding was appointed as branch manager of RayJay's first retail office in Boston, effective this past April. Previously, he was employed at UBS. Wright was appointed as Mid-Atlantic complex manager based in RJA’s Pennsylvania Avenue branch in Washington, D.C. Previously, he was employed at Morgan Stanley.

Appointee: Tammira Philippe

Philippe, president at Bridgeway, was recognized as one of the 2017 Top Women in Asset Management by Money Management Executive.

Appointment: Edward Tedeschi

Tedeschi was appointed as a senior advisory board member at Constellation. Previously, he was employed at KPMG Alternative Asset Group.
