Matthew O'Connor just hired a
BlackRock [
profile] veteran for a key distribution role at
Capital Group [
profile].
| Ralph Haberli Capital Group Institutional Retirement Distribution | |
Ralph Haberli joined the Los Angeles-based mutual fund titan last month to lead institutional retirement distribution, our sister publication
401kWire reports. Haberli previously served as head of distribution and business development under
Anne Ackerly, New York City-based BlackRock's U.S. and Canada defined contribution business. New York-based Haberli will be moving to LA.
A spokesperson for BlackRock declined to comment on how Haberli's duties are being handled. Yet word is that
Sean Murray, head of retail DC I-O distribution, and
Matt Soifer, head of institutional DC I-O distribution, will now report directly to Ackerly.
| Matthew O'Connor Capital Group Director of North American Distribution | |
At Cap Group, Haberli now reports to O'Connor, director of North American distribution for Cap Group. Haberli's teams cover both bundled retirement plans and defined contribution investment-only (DC I-O) for large and small plans alike, and his teams also cover traditional pension plans and variable annuities.
Haberli and
Bill Anderson, director of institutional product management at Cap Group,
talked to
401kWire about Haberli joining Cap Group and about the ongoing expansion of Cap Group's retirement plan distribution teams.
Haberli's new institutional team leaders include:
Walt Best, institutional national sales manager;
Mark Dence, senior business development manager and head of retirement national accounts;
Karyn Dzurisin, senior business development manager and of TPA national accounts (TPAs are third-party administrators to 401(k)s and other retirement plans); and
Brendan Mahoney, national sales manager in the intermediary channel.
A Northwestern and Yale alumnus, Haberli previously worked at Boston Consulting Group and BGI (now part of BlackRock).
