PFPC has tapped a new chief for its distribution arm. The unit of PNC Financial Services named Brian R. Burns as president and chief executive officer of PFPC Distributors subsidiary. His focus will the creation of a national wholesaling services business to support broker/dealer clients, according to PFPC officials.

"Brian's diverse and extensive industry knowledge and commitment to excellence will help our clients sell and service their shareholders across multiple distribution channels," said Nancy B. Wolcott, executive vice president and business executive, shareholder services group, PFPC. "He will work closely with our different lines of business to craft the most comprehensive solutions for both the manufacturing and distribution segments of the industry."

PFPC Distributors enters into selling agreements as principal underwriter for a fund, reviewing and filing fund sales and marketing literature with the NASD, collecting and disbursing 12b-1 fees and licensing and supervising registered representatives to sell mutual fund shares as part of its medallion distribution services.

The service is intended to offer complete distribution services, including platforms and technology, product strategy, wholesaler and marketing support and campaign management, according to the company.

Burns, who joined PFPC from PNC Advisors in 2001, will also continue in his role as senior vice president of PFPC's integrated banking transaction services.
