An Ex-Neuberger Chief Takes a Chairman Spot

News summary by MFWire's editors

Jeffrey Lane is coming out of retirement, and another top Smith Barney alum is helping him launch a private wealth advisory unit for a boutique investment bank.

Yesterday New York City-based Lebenthal revealed that Lane and Frank Campanale will lead Lebenthal's new unit, with Lane serving as chairman of Lebenthal Holdings and Campanale as chairman and CEO of the new Lebenthal Wealth Advisors unit. Aaron Lucchetti of the Wall Street Journal reported on Lane's move.

Lane previously served as CEO of Bear Stearns Asset Management, chairman and CEO of Neuberger Berman, vice chairman of Lehman Brotthers, vice chairman of Travelers Group, and vice chairman of Smith Barney (under Travelers) in charge of mutual funds (as well as asset management, international, futures and commodities). Campanale previously led Smith Barney Consulting Group, and he also worked with First Allied Wealth Management and E.F. Hutton.
