Sante Fe, New Mexico-based
Thornburg Investment Management has opened a new income-focused fund. The
Thornburg Investment Income Builder Fund is will focus on income-generating stocks. Experts predict that more fund complexes will roll out similar funds if President Bush's desire to eliminate taxes on dividends is enacted into law.
The Thornburg fund is team managed by Brian McMahon, president and chief investment officer, and Steve Bohlin, the Thornburg income bond fund portfolio manager who will manage the bond component.
"Thornburg Investment Income Builder Fund is a logical complement to our existing funds," said McMahon. "The Fund expects to employ a mix of equities and bonds with the majority portion represented by equities that will be invested in dividend-paying stocks, both foreign and domestic. In short, we offer a core income-generating strategy with capital appreciation potential."
