champagne and cross their fingers. Today senior fund analyst Greg
Carlson at Chicago-based mutual fund ratings giant
Morningstar revealed the first batch of fund
manager of the year nominees, for domestic stock fund PMs.
The nominees are:
- -the team behind three-star, gold-rated, $7.8-billion American Funds New Economy;
- -Timothy Hartch and Michael Keller, PMs of five-star, silver-rated, $3.6-billion Fidelity Growth Company;
- -Bill Frels and Mark
Henneman, and their team, PMs of five-star, silver-rated, $2.5-billion Mairs & Power Growth; and
- -Bill Nygren, PM of four-star, gold-rated, $7.3-billion Oakmark and three-star, gold-rated, $3.2-billion Oakmark Select. Nygren won the award in 2001.
M* will reveal the winners during the first week of January.
Morningstar also named fund manager of the year nominees in the
alternatives,
fixed income and
international equity categories.
