Transamerica Life Insurance Co. in St. Petersburg plans to lay off 96 employees between Jan. 2 and April 1, according to the
Tampa Business Times.
The paper cites a
layoff notice filed on October 22 with the state of Florida, which says that the cuts will affect employees in call center operations and those taking care of mutual fund financial services.
Transamerica spokesman Blake Bostwick told the Times the company is going through “stages” to cut personnel working in the asset management unit, but other company operations will not be affected.
Repeated requests for comment from
MFWire were not returned.
