Vanguard [profile] is adding a short-term inflation-protected securities index fund to its portfolio, reports Index Universe.

Another first for third-largest ETF provider by assets, the Vanguard Short-Term Inflation-Protected Securities Index Fund will compete with existing TIPS ETFs like iShares Barclays 0-5 Year TIPS Bond Fund, Schwab US TIPS ETF, and Pimco 1-5 Year US TIPS Index Fund.

Gus Sauter, Vanguard CIO, says that"the new Short-Term Inflation Protected Securities Index Fund will provide an additional choice for investors who are seeking protection from inflation."
