EIG Global Energy Partners today filed a complaint seeking to enjoin the proposed TCW-Carlyle deal.

EIG alleges that the transaction goes against consent rights given to EIG as part of the spin-off out of TCW in 2009.

"It's unfortunate that this suit has become necessary but, as our suit alleges, the announced transaction violates certain contractual rights granted to EIG as part of our separation from TCW," stated R. Blair Thomas, CEO of EIG.

TCW spokesman Peter Viles responded to the MFWire regarding the complaint, saying that the firm does not comment “on matters in arbitration."

However, he added, "This is an excellent transaction for TCW, its clients and its employees, and we are confident it will go forward on schedule.”
