Mutual funds that take the risk out while leaving in the return gained the attention of the Wall Street Journal over the weekend.

These "risk-lite" mutual funds could be the next wave to catch on if the paper's coverage is a sign of the times.

The article pointed to funds from Direxion, Invesco, Global X Funds, AQR Capital and Putnam as offering solutions with "less risk, same return."
