Fundsters interested in First Eagle [see profile] may want to take a look at Morningstar. In today's "Fund Spy" column, Bridget Hughes analyzes the value manager's mutual fund offerings, and how they've fared since Charles de Vaulx left and others in 2007 and legend Jean- Marie Eveillard returned and brought new faces into the mix.

MStar's take is, on the whole, a positive one.

"These remain attractive, well-run funds that have maintained their unusual focus on capital preservation while not sacrificing decent gains during rallies," Hughes writes. "This is one rebuild that has been a success."
