Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore is reporting that Amundi is the leading bidder for UniCredit's Pioneer Global Asset Management subsidiary. Il Sole 24 Ore's report was picked up by Bloomberg. [See MFWire's living timeline of the Pioneer auction for more details and history.]

Meanwhile, UniCredit CEO Federico Ghizzoni was quoted as saying in a Reuters report that "there are no favored candidates."
