About 1,400 State Street Corp. employees will lose their jobs starting this month through the end of next year, according to media reports. The cuts would represent about five percent of the Boston-headquartered company's staff count. It was not immediately clear what impact, if any, the cuts would have on company's State Street Global Advisors unit and its fund services business.

Dow Jones, The Boston Globe and Bloomberg are among the media outlets that reported on the layoffs.
