Bill Nygren Oakmark Funds Portfolio Manager

Harris Associates made a pair of excellent hires over the space of a week in 1983. Both of those hires place on this year's list and one -- Bill Nygren -- still works at the firm.

Nygren is one of the creators of the Oakmark [see profile] family of mutual funds and has built a reputation for stock-selecting prowess used to build a concentrated portfolio. The past decade has favored value investors, and Nygren was Morningstar's Domestic-Stock Manager of the Year for 2001.
