No matter who sits in this chair, the job itself brings influence over the mutual fund industry.

Going into 2011 the "top cop" job for the mutual fund industry remains essentially vacant. With Andrew "Buddy" Donohue stepping down on November 19, the White House has tapped Jennifer McHugh as acting director until a more permanent replacement can be found. At that point, McHugh is expected to return to her role as senior advisor to SEC Chair Mary Schapiro.
