Few of the Fund Titans in Boston, New York or Los Angeles may think of Klawans when they think of influencers, but the same cannot be said among many of the 711 corner offices across the industry. Entreprenurs in the fund industry point to the nanogenerian as a long-time fund manager who still takes the time to share his experiences with those starting out. As a result his influence continues to work through an extended network running through the industry.

The former General Electric aerospace engineer started his fund midway through his 20-year GE career in the 1970s. He claims that he was the twelfth person to become a registered investment advisor.
