Cohen & Steers has signed on three mutual fund industry veterans to boost its marketing team. The New York City-based mutual fund advisor has hired executives from AllianceBernstein, Nuveen Investments and American Century. The three report to Robert Steers, co-CEO and co-Chairman of Cohen & Steers.
The hires are Anthony D. "Tony" Ialeggio, James MacPherson and Brendan R. Murray.
Steers stated that Ialeggio will focus on identifying and executing "successful strategies for our retail and institutional businesses." He takes the title of senior vice president and director of global marketing and product development. Before the move, Ialeggio was a managing director of marketing at AllianceBernstein, which he joined in 2000. Before that, he was vice president of e-business and product development at GE Capital.
McPherson is a senior vice president and director of new product development and strategy for Cohan & Steers. In the role, he is responsible for identifying competitive market opportunities and developing new investment products to capitalize on those opportunities. MacPherson has worked with Nuveen Investments and Merrill Lynch.
Murray, vice president and director of national accounts, will maintain relationships with key distribution partners in the retail channel. He will also develop the private client segment. Earlier in his career he worked with Putnam Investments, and was most recently at American Century Investments.
