Columbia Management Group, the asset management arm of FleetBoston, has recruited Mark Marinella as managing director and head of fixed income. He will report to Keith Banks, chief executive officer of the company. Marinella's position is a newly created one that was created for the purpose of overseeing all of the company's fixed income.

Marinella joins Columbia Management Group from State Street Research and Management, where he was executive vice president and co-chief investment officer. In addition to serving as a member of the firm's management committee, he was a member of the Fixed Income Bond Policy Group and was responsible for a fixed income portfolio of approximately $30 billion.
