Bisys Intros New Web Tech

Reported by Tony Pennino

Little Falls, New Jersey-based Bisys Information Solutions is introducing FirstLinq, Bill Neville, group president of the firm, told the 401kWire.com. This product allows financial services companies to offer Internet access for their clients through a customized web portal.

"The idea here is to help financial services institutions provide focus for their clients.

Too often, individuals go onto the web, surf around a bit, and then go to the sites of their banks or other service providers. There is a lot of opportunity there for the individual to use the products of other providers," Neville reported.

The FirstLinq service allows for the logo of a given firm to appear on the desktop screen much like an AOL or Internet Explorer logo. If clicked, the client will be taken onto the web and immediately to the page of the financial institution.

Originally, this product was designed for banks and their customers. "But it can have an application for 401(k) providers and mutual fund companies. Any kind of financial services institution, really," Neville continued.

For Bisys, this new service will be invaluable for its customers. According to the firm, a financial services company can "own" the primary Internet relationship with its clients. Bisys is operating under the belief that the financial services industry fears that there is attrition of customers online. This service provides a "first eyes" opportunity for companies in dealing with their customers.

FirstLinq employs Virtual ISP services, which is a product of AT&T's Private Label IP system.
