Transamerica Life Companies is offering two new sub-account portfolio choices for its variable annuity products, the Pimco VIT Growth and Income Portfolio and the Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Universal Funds Emerging Markets Equity Portfolio.

The two new portfolios will be available through Transamerica's Classic, Catalyst and Bounty product lines. Pimco is a new investment advisor for the products, while MSDW has been an advisor to the product line since the series' inception.

"The enhanced index fund offers the possibility to outperform the Standard and Poor's 500 index, since it invests both in the index as well as outside it. The emerging markets equity portfolio provides the potential of ongoing growth in the future, as emerging markets around the world develop," said Paul Norris, vice president and actuary, annuity product management for Transamerica.

Transamerica is also adding an enhanced death benefit to the Classic annuity -- if an investor is 85 or older at the time of death, the benefit is the account value or the total purchase payments less withdrawals, whichever is greater.
