TIAA-CREF plans to outsource some back-office processing work to India, company spokeswoman Abby Cohen confirmed to The MFWire. The move will affect less than 100 U.S. jobs.

The New York City-based firm has inked an agreement with Mumbai-based Tata Consultancy.

"Outsourcing some back-office functions provides for greater efficiency and cost-savings," Cohen said. "Our goal is to effect this transition through normal attrition."
