Baron Asset Management is now letting investors open accounts directly through its Web site. The site uses electronic-signatures to authorize the openings. The firm uses Kansas City-based
DST to provide shareholder recordkeeping.
Investors can fund the accounts, which have a $2,000 minimum investment, with a direct debit from a bank account. Accounts can be created for any of the four no-load Baron funds: Baron Asset Fund, Baron Growth Fund, Baron Small-Cap Fund and Baron iOpportunity Fund
Visitors to the site are also referred to the Schwab Onesource and Fidelity FundsNet supermarkets if they are part of those programs.
