The Wall Street Journal's Fund Track column on Thursday picked up on exchange-traded data from Barclays Global Investors. Assets in exchange-traded products reached a new high of $678 billion, an increase of 4 percent from the high of $653 billion in July.

From January to August, exchange-traded products recorded net inflows of $54.3 billion, up 8.2 percent compared to the year-ago period.
