Russell Plans to End the Tacoma-Seattle Suspense Next Month

by: Kimberly Chin

Russell Investments will make up its mind next month on whether to retain its headquarters in Tacoma, Washington or move to Seattle, says its top executive.

"We're on track, I think," Russell CEO Andrew Doman told The News Tribune in Tacoma. "It’s not going any faster than we thought it might. We won't be making any announcements in August. It will definitely be September."

Doman, whom the pub dubbed as perhaps the "most-watched man in downtown Tacoma," said Russell received "very thoughtful presentations and proposals" from the two cities.

"So the decision that we have to take which is twofold: where, which building, which combination of space makes most sense for us, and in which city that will end up being, is not an easy decision. But we’re working through it," Doman told the pub.

Tacoma, in particular, "has been very thoughtful and we’ve had an excellent submission from them," Doman said.

The 57-year-old Doman, a McKinsey veteran, took the top job at Russell in February, succeeding Craig Ueland, who left in June of last year.
