On Monday Principal Financial reported its second quarter 2009 earnings for its global asset management division. Operating revenues had dipped from $143.7 million from Q2 of 2008 to $103.3 million this quarter.

Segment operating earnings were $8.2 million, down from $24.1 million from the year ago period. Third party AUM were $67.3 billion as of June 30,2009 compared to $88.7 billion a year earlier.
