The 13th annual
Barron's/Value Line survey of top mutual fund managers was published this week. For the second time in three years, a Russian fund has topped the list. The
ING Russia Fund helmed by
Jan-Wim Derks captured the top spot this year. Coming in at number two and three respectively were the
CGM Focus Fund, managed by
Kenneth Heebner, who has been getting much press lately for his outsized returns, and the
John Hancock Large Cap Equity Fund, headed up by
Roger Hamilton.
A sampling of other industry personalities getting mention on the list include,
Neil Hennessy, manager of the
Hennessy Focus 30 Fund at number 17;
Will Danoff, manager of the
Fidelity Contrafund, at number 60; and
Tom Marsico, manager of the
Marsico Focus Fund at number 87.
