The
Van Kampen Disciplined Small Cap Value Fund is on a path to liquidation. The board of trustees on June 5 approved a liquidation plan for the fund. Shareholders will vote on the fate of the fund on August 19.
"The Board of Trustees (the "Board") has reviewed the investment policies and
practices, performance, expenses and reduced net assets of the Van Kampen Disciplined Small Cap Value Fund," according to an
SEC filing.
The board explored other options such as a possible merger, but decided on the liquidation route.
"After due consideration of a number of factors, the Board determined that it would be in the best interest of the shareholders to terminate and liquidate the Fund," according to the filing.
According to
Morningstar, the fund has $5 million in assets and in the last year, recorded a 17 percent loss and lagged behind 70 percent of its peers.
