SunTrust's STI Classic Funds has picked a subadvisor for three new 130/30 funds. Alpha Equity Management will subadvise the the International Equity 130/30 Fund, Real Estate 130/30 Fund and U.S. Equity 130/30 Fund. STI did not use a consultant in its search.

SunTrust spokesman Hugh Suhr told The MFWire that the company chose Alpha because of its experience and expertise with active extension strategies (130/30) and REITS. He cited Alpha Equity's intellectual capital and investment acumen.

Surh added that SunTrust will be able to distribute the new funds within its internal channels.
