New Brandywine Hire is No Stranger to Legg Mason

Legg Mason's Brandywine subsidiary has hired Stacy Dutton, as managing partner. Dutton was previously president and chief investment officer of New York-based Park Agency and earlier, co-founded Hygrove Partners, a fund shop that was purchased by Legg Mason in 2005.


Brandywine Global Investment Management, LLC today announced the appointment of Stacy M. Dutton as managing partner. Stacy will serve on the firm’s Executive Committee and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company including managing Brandywine Global’s growing business around the world, coordinating strategic decision making, and spearheading firm initiatives.

David Hoffman, chairman of Brandywine Global’s Executive Committee, commented, “After conducting an extensive search, we believe the firm stands to benefit from Stacy’s considerable experience in both the operational leadership and practice of professional investment management.”

Stacy brings with her a rich and diverse background. She joins Brandywine Global from Park Agency, Inc., a private, New York-based investment management and financial services company, where she served as president and chief investment officer and was responsible for all investment and business operations. In 2000, she co-founded Hygrove Partners LLC, a value-based long/short U.S. equity fund where she remained a partner until the firm’s acquisition by Legg Mason in late 2005. At Hygrove Partners, she served as co-portfolio manager of the Hygrove Capital Funds (2000-2003) and as chief operating officer (2004-2005).

From 1997 to 2000, Stacy worked at Warburg Pincus Asset Management where she was a senior vice president and portfolio manager of the Warburg Pincus Offshore U.S. Equity Fund as well as co-portfolio manager of the Warburg Pincus Growth & Income Fund through the company’s acquisition by Credit Suisse Asset Management. During her career, Stacy has also served as an equity analyst with Jennison Associates, State Street Research & Management and Morgan Stanley & Co. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago and earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
