Nuveen Investments has appointed
John Miller as its new chief investment officer, confirmed company spokesperson Chris Allen.
Miller takes over from
Bill Fitzgerald, who is leaving the firm at the end of the first quarter. Fitzgerald, a 19-year Nuveen veteran, is departing the company "to explore other opportunities," Allen said.
Miller, a portfolio manager at Nuveen, has been with the company for 11 years. He will continue in his role as fund manager.
Nuveen was taken private by a group of investors led by fellow Chicago-based
Madison Dearborn Partners in a deal that closed in mid-November.
