Janus Capital Group has named a new skipper to run its flagship fund starting in February.
David Corkins, currently the portfolio manager of Janus Mercury Fund, will start calling the shots at Janus Fund next month.
Corkins’ appointment forms part of a host of portfolio management changes unveiled by the Denver-based firm on Tuesday as it seeks to better position itself for continued growth.
The announcement came three weeks after chief investment officer Gary Black assumed the role of chief executive, succeeding Steve Scheid, who remains chairman of the board.
Replacing Corkins at Janus Mercury Fund is Janus’ research team, led by
Jim Groff, director of research.
Blain Rollins, who presently runs Janus Fund, will take over from Ron Sachs as portfolio manager of Janus Triton Fund. Sachs will continue to manage Janus Orion Fund.
Janus also said
Jonathan Coleman , portfolio manager of Janus Enterprise Fund, and
David Becker, portfolio manager of Janus Contrarian Fund have been appointed co-chief investment officers for the company’s U.S. equity growth and core investment disciplines. In these newly created positions, they will continue managing their respective funds and at the same time, oversee Janus’ growth and core portfolio managers.
The changes will take effect February 1.
