The sponsor of the American Funds is moving its Arizona call center to permanent digs. The Capital Group Companies will employ 500 workers at the permanent Scottsdale, Arizona location, up from the 275 that it now employs.

"We are currently at about 275 associates in the facility here," Askvig said. "We’re still completing some parts of it, but we are up and running. We will continue to grow and have room to grow in the facility," Jeanne Askvig, general manager of the facility told the East Valley Tribune, a Scottsdale paper.

She added that the call center is used for shareholder and financial adviser services and for new accounts.

Los Angeles-headquartered American Funds is not the only fund group in Scottsdale. Others with large operations include the Vanguard Group, Charles Schwab and Fidelity Management & Research (FMR).
