Mutual fund wholesalers beware: advisors think that sales pitches are boring and all too often the same.
RIAs, brokers and investors are bored to death of wholesalers, according to
Ed Butowsky, president, CEO and wealth advisor at Chapwood Customhedge Portfolio Advisory Service,
Financial Planning reports.
Botowsky, speaking at
FundForum USA 2010 in Boston yesterday, reportedly said wholesalers might want to consider e-mailing spirited videos to make themselves stand out.
Rich DeSalvo, principal of Richard DeSalvo Consulting, reportedly said that when he oversaw fund selection
at Morgan Stanley, he was less interested in a fund’s holdings or number of Morningstar stars than how it can hlp him increase his bottome line.
“Ditch the pitch books. Use a white board instead. Don’t talk at me. Tell your story from the heart,” he said.
