In August, The MFWire.com reported that RiverFront Investment Group, which sub-advises mutual funds for ALPS, is building out its sales force. Today the Richmond, Virginia-based firm said it hired Rutherfoord Ferguson as a regional sales consultant.

Ferguson, a Wachovia Securities alum, most recently worked with Wealthcare Capital Management. He now reports to Stuart Porterfield, regional director of the business development group at RiverFront.

RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 11-- RiverFront Investment Group announced today that Rutherfoord Ferguson has joined the firm as a Regional Sales Consultant, further strengthening the firm's Business Development Group.

Rutherfoord brings more than 10 years of investment experience to the firm.  Most recently, he was with Wealthcare Capital Management where he consulted advisors on their clients' financial plans and practice management solutions.  Previously, he was with Wachovia Securities, where he worked with financial advisors to establish their own independent practice through Wachovia Securities Financial Network.  In his time at Wachovia Securities, at both Wachovia Securities Financial Network and Mentor Investment Group, Rutherfoord worked with a number of current RiverFront Founding Partners and associates. Additionally, Rutherfoord held positions at Thomas Weisel Partners and Branch Cabell (now part of RBC Wealth Management).  He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College.  Rutherfoord will report to Stuart Porterfield, Regional Director of the Business Development Group.
