A longtime fundster ally and her team are reviving a conference, just before a big industry event this spring.

On April 29 and 30, the SunStar Strategic team will host their first conference in four years. The event will be held at the Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington, D.C., as fundsters gather in town for the ICI GMM later that week. The revival this year is being spearheaded by Melissa Murphy, senior vice president and partner.

"This is primarily for entrepreneurial fund firms that have great funds and always want to know more about how to market," Kathryn Morrison, president and CEO of SunStar Strategic, tells MFWire.

Morrison says the SunStar team started these conferences nearly 20 years ago with clients (SunStar is a PR and marketing firm for asset managers) before expanding them out over the years. Panels features fellow entrepreneurial fundsters sharing their stories from the trenches.

SunStar's last conference, back in 2015, drew more than 100 attendees, including executives from about 35 fund families.
