4,300 RIAs and fundsters are converging on Southern California this week for a giant conference.

This afternoon the
Charles Schwab team will kick off their
IMPACT 2016 conference at the San Diego Convention Center. The four day conference will feature several special guests, including: Eurasia Group president
Ian Bremmer; author
Malcolm Gladwell; retired NBA star
Magic Johnson; former U.S. Secretary of Labor
Robert Reich; former U.S. Senator
Alan Simpson;
Sherry Turkle, director of the MIT Initiative on Technology and Self; and
Greg Valliere, chief political strategist at
Horizon Investments. The band
Los Lobos and singer-songwriter
Jason Mraz will headline the closing night party at the San Diego Padres' Petco Park. The conference, Schwab's 26th annual, will wrap up at lunchtime on Thursday.
Of those 4,300 registered attendees, more than 1,800 are advisors.
In addition to
