Thursday, May 12, 2005 TIAA-CREF Hires Governance Head John C. Wilcox has been hired as the new head of corporate governance and a senior vice president at TIAA-CREF. Wilcox replaces Peter Clapman, who is retiring. Wilcox will be responsible for overseeing the team that monitors governance at its portfolio investment companies, as well as TIAA-CREF itself. Wilcox reports to executive vice president and general counsel George Madison and manages two corporate governance directors, Linda Scott, Hye-Won Choi. Choi was recently promoted to manage international governance issues. Prior to joining TIAA-CREF, Wilcox was vice chairman at Georgeson Shareholder Communications.
