Hartford Adds Three Funds


Hartford Financial Services has launched another three funds and added six more options to its Director variable annuity. The insurer is adding the products as part of an effort to provide more options for investors who are nearing or in retirement.

"Our key focus is to use the strengths that have propelled us to leadership in annuities to grow leading positions in other personal investment products such as mutual funds and 401(k) plans," explained John Walters, executive vice president of The Hartford's Investment Products Division.

Among the subadvisors to the new funds is Wellington Management Company. The new funds also tap Hartford affiliate Hartford Investment Management Company. With the additions, Hartford now offers 43 retail mutual funds.

The three new mutual funds include The Hartford Floating Rate Fund, The Hartford Capital Appreciation II Fund and The Hartford Select Mid-Cap Value Fund.

The non-affiliated managers offered through Hartford's variable annuity options include AllianceBernstein, Fidelity Investments, Lord Abbett, Oppenheimer Funds, Putnam Investments, Van Kampen, Wellington Management Company.
